Terms
Last updated July 2026
The short version: I grow garlic, you buy it, I post it to you when it's ready. These terms cover everything sold on this site — culinary bulbs, seed cloves, wholesale orders, and anything else I add to the shop in future.
What these terms cover
These terms apply to every purchase from Elephant Garlic Co. — current products, pre-orders, wholesale orders, and any future products listed on this site. If a specific product needs its own rules, they’ll be stated on that product’s page and sit alongside these terms.
Pre-orders and the drops
Most of what I sell is a pre-order. Culinary bulbs ship in July; seed cloves ship in the autumn, in time for October planting. Dates on the site are my best estimate — the field sets the schedule, not me. If a harvest runs late, I’ll email you with a new window rather than send you something before it’s ready.
When a drop sells out, it’s gone until the next one. Ordering reserves your share of the harvest; it doesn’t create garlic that doesn’t exist.
If the harvest fails
Farming is farming. If I can’t fulfil your order — a bad harvest, weather, disease — you choose: a full refund, or first place in the queue for the next drop. I’ll never substitute smaller or lower-grade bulbs without asking you first.
Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Payment is taken at the time of ordering, including for pre-orders — that’s what secures your place in the drop. If I ever need to change a price after you’ve ordered, your order stays at the price you paid.
Delivery
UK shipping only, for now. Delivery is £4.95 by Royal Mail Tracked 48 (2–3 working days from dispatch), and free on orders over £40. I pack and post everything myself in the days after harvest, so orders go out in batches. You’ll get an email when yours is on the way. If your parcel arrives damaged or doesn’t arrive at all, email me and I’ll sort it — replacement or refund, your call.
Cancelling and cooling off
You can cancel a pre-order any time before it ships for a full refund — no fees, no deductions, refunded to your original payment method within 14 days.
After delivery, you have 14 days to change your mind about unplanted, unopened orders under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Email me within 14 days of delivery, then post the garlic back within 14 days of that (return postage is yours to cover). I’ll refund the goods plus standard outbound delivery within 14 days of getting them back. I can reduce the refund if bulbs come back handled beyond what’s needed to inspect them — broken into cloves, for instance. Fresh or rapidly perishable items (scapes, anything sold as fresh) are exempt from this cooling-off right, and I’ll say so on their product pages.
Damaged or faulty goods
Separate from the cooling-off right, the Consumer Rights Act means everything I send must be of satisfactory quality and as described. If your order arrives damaged, rotten, or not what you ordered, email me a photo within 30 days and you get a full refund or replacement — your choice — including any return postage. This right doesn’t expire at the field gate; it’s the law and it’s also just good manners.
Seed cloves and growing
Seed cloves are sold for planting. I guarantee they arrive sound, firm, and viable — check them when they arrive and tell me if any aren’t. Once they’re in the ground, what happens involves too many variables outside my control (soil, drainage, planting depth, weather, pests) for me to guarantee germination or harvest, so I don’t — no honest seed seller can. The growing guide covers the whole method; follow it and you’ll almost certainly be fine, and if something goes wrong I’m happy to help you figure out why.
Wholesale
Wholesale and restaurant orders are first come, first served against a small field. Trade prices, volumes, and delivery windows are agreed by email and those emails form part of your contract with me, alongside these terms.
Future products
Anything new I add to the shop — scapes, smoked bulbs, whatever the field allows — is covered by these terms from the day it’s listed. Product-specific details (shipping windows, storage, quantities) live on the product page.
The legal bits
Elephant Garlic Co. is based in Lincolnshire, England, and these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing here limits your statutory rights as a consumer. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stand.
